Before you begin: Linked here is the first chapter of the guide "Internet Etiquette." The first chapter is a brief how-to about email. Other chapters contain more detail about sending great emails that will get you noticed and respected. Mail Account Every website has a mail system. Family Tables can provide members with a "familytables.org" address with access to your mail on this website or from your home. Family Tables mail can also be automatically forwarded to your regular mail address. Please note: A Family Tables mail account should not be your only mail address unless you want to exclusively use the web site mail section for accessing your e-mail. Your e-mail address would look like this: [username]@familytables.orgThis mail service is web based. That is you access it on this web site. We have provided a link at the top to check your Family Tables Web mail. When you click on the link, you will be presented with a login box. ![]() Alternate Login Screen ![]() Your login username is your whole email address. For example: If you requested a username of "musicman: then your address is then you username for login would be the same. The password is what ever password you want. When you login to your Family Tables mail account you will be prompted to choose a mail client. The only choice is "Horde". Some websites have choices, ours does not but the screen is still there to choose. Just click on the logo. ![]() On the next screen, you choose your language. This new version of Familytables is much more international than the previous version. English is default, just ckick the "login button". ![]() Horde looks like this. The menu is on the left with the message list displayed on the right. Your can read, delete and send mail from this screen. If you do not see a message list, click on "inbox" in the left hand menu. Horde can function as a personal information manager with notes and calendar. ![]() When you log out of the email section, the screen will look like this. Just close out the window or tab and you will be back to the familytables front page. ![]() Once you have your Family Tables Email account, you will want to tell your friends about it. Perhaps some of them will want one too. There is no limit to how many Family Tables accounts can be set up. Get Your Family Tables Mail at HomeEven though this service is web-based, you can receive Family Tables mail in your regular email client. The settings are real simple. For "POP" or "POP3" (incoming mail) enter this: mail.familytables.org At home you use a mail client such as "Outlook Express" or "Eudora." You can filter mail to separate your Family Tables mail from your regular mail in your mail client. You must set up a "mail filter." This is very easy to do. You filter your Family Tables mail by setting "recipent contains: familytables" and direct it to a new folder. That's all there is to it. You mail client should put your Family Tables mail into a separate folder. You can do this for any mail that you get from regular sources.
